Most printers will send out a specific error message that will let you know this situation is going on inside your printer, whether on the printer’s screen or on your computer. If you don’t know what the exact error code and aren’t completely sure it’s being caused by a paper jam, please look it up in the printer’s user manual.
Make sure this is the actual error before going on with this procedure. The error message could look something like picture #1
Now that we know there is a paper jam going on inside our printer, we must find a solution for this problem. Please disconnect the printer’s power cord to avoid getting electrical discharges, just as you would on any electronic device.
Step #2:
Locate the exact spot where the paper jam is.
Note: Paper sheets tend to become stuck in the following places: between the paper tray and the actual printing site, or between the printing site and the exit tray.
Step #3:
Remove the paper tray from the printer. You can now check from the paper tray all the way to the printing site for any jams. If everything’ fine, please check for crumpled pieces of paper in the paper tray.
Step #4:
Open all the gates that are related to the paper feed and printing process on your printer, especially a very important door located on the back of the printer. It will have a paper jam symbol engraved on it since paper jams tend to be found in this area. This is how the printer looks...
Step #5:
We recommend you remove the toner or ink cartridges from the printer. If you can remove the photoconductor unit, take it out as well to avoid messing with our future printing jobs, and remember to keep your printer turned off.
We also ask you leave the ink cartridges on the exact stop where they are, and make sure they don’t get in your way when looking for stuck paper sheets.
Step 6:
If you can see any stuck piece of paper, remove it slowly but firmly to avoid tearing it inside your printer and delaying the entire process.
Step #7:
If the paper sheets rips, please move the roller’s cogs. Please imitate the natural movement they make during the printer process until the pieces of paper come out.
Step #8:
Place the ink or toner ink cartridges back in the printer. Check for any pieces of paper scattered in the printer and remove them if you find any.
Step #9:
Turn the printer on and check everything’s working properly. If the paper jam error message is displayed again, you may have left some pieces of paper inside that are blocking the printing process, so take another close look at your printer.
We can’t guarantee repeating these steps will solve the problem 100% of the time. If this happens to you, please contact us by leaving a comment in the section below this post and we will be glad to help you solve your issue.
