Common error codes on canon pixma printers

Canon pixma printers have been chosen by printer experts all over Latin America due to their high quality and durability. The fact that continuous ink systems can be installed so easily on them has also helped them stand out from the rest.

Most of the time, these particular error messages will show up on our computer’s screen. Therefore, we’ve decided to create this list in order to put them all together, as well as offer some solutions for them. We will try to post as many of these quick fixes with more detail in other blog posts.

The following list contains the error code, its possible cause and a probable solution for it as well. If you need more help with any of these, please post a comment in the section below this post and we will get back to you.

Some of the most common error codes found on canon pixma printers:

E26: Your printer’s internal temperature is rising.
E27: The waste ink absorber pad is full.
E35 E15: Short circuits in your USB cable. Please connect your printer to another USB port.
E37 17: printer engine error. The engine inside the ink cartridge carriage is out of order.
E40 20: A hardware error has occured. This may have to do with the configurations set on the certain internal components.
E42 22: Scanner error. These can be a bit more complicated, since they are caused by sudden, hard moves inside your printer.
E28: The ink cartridges’ temperatures are rising. We suggest you turn your printer off for a few hours, and disconnect the power cable as well.
E23: There’s been an error in the paper feeding process / the canon printer lacks paper. Check for the amount of pages in the printer’s paper tray and take a look at the paper sensor on it.
E22: Ink cartridge carriage error. Please check or any foreign objects blocking the way of the carriage. If there aren’t any, please grease the carriage up with 3-in-1 oil.
E15: There’s an ink cartridge missing. If all the ink cartridges have been set in place, please clean the contacts on them.
E14: The ink cartridges haven’t been installed properly. Remove the cartridges from the printer and place them back inside in the correct position. If the problem persists, please read our post regarding proper canon ink cartridge placement.
E5-5: The ink cartridges installed on the printer aren’t compatible with this particular model. If you’ve installed the right type of ink cartridges, please clean the contacts on them to solve this issue.
E4: You’ve ran out of ink. If you’ve refilled your ink cartridges and this error shows up, please read this post that will teach you how to restore a canon printer back to factory settings.
E3 3: There’s a paper jam in your computer. Click on this link for learn how to get rid of them.
E2 2: You’ve ran out of paper.
