How to get rid of ink cartridge error messages on HP officejet 5600 printers

These problems can affect many printer models from the HP 5600 series, such as the HP officejet 5605, the HP officejet 5608, the HP officejet 5610, the HP officejet 5610v, and the HP officejet 5610xi All-in-One Printers. All these printers could have this same problem, which you’ll be able to notice when the LED indicator start blinking like this:

An ink cartridge error message will appear on your printer’s screen. These issues can be caused by many different things, such as:

• Ink cartridge contacts’ issues.
• The tricolor or black ink cartridge will have some sort of problem.
• Printer contact’s issues.
• The ink cartridges aren’t installed properly.
• Incompatible ink cartridges in the printer.

How to identify what the actual problem is:

In order to detect what is the problem with your printer and discard the rest, you will need to do multiple different procedures on your printer. Please keep an eye out for the LED indicator. If it stops blinking, then you’ve solved the problem.

Step #1:
Take the ink cartridge out, take a good look at it and check to see if it needs to be cleaned. If it’s dirty or in bad shape, you will need to do it.

Step #2:
Please keep your printer on at all times during these procedures.

Step #3:
In order to take the ink cartridges out the frontal printer gate, please wait until they’ve reached a comfortable changing position.

This will grant you access to the ink cartridges and let you review and clean them, as stated in this post.

Step #4:
Touch the print heads and contacts on the ink cartridges as little as possible. Be very careful and attentive in order to keep them from harm.

In the picture, #1 points at the contacts, which you might need to clean if the ink cartridges are sending out error messages, and #2 points at the ink injectors on the cartridge. This is where the ink leave the cartridge to be set on the paper sheet. Please check the contacts and ink injectors are both clean and free of any ink residues.

Step #5:
If you realize there’s nothing to be done with this ink cartridge, you can now replace it with a new or remanufactured one.

Please remember to remove the ink ribbon wrapping the ink cartridge to avoid mistreating them before the installation process.

This is how you should remove the protective, yellow ribbon on your ink cartridges. We recommend you do this as slowly as possible and that you keep an eye on it. If you take this ribbon off too fast, you may damage or detach the contacts on your ink cartridge.

Step #6:
Now, how should we put the HP ink cartridge back in the printer? You should only do it once you’ve removed the yellow ribbon and have the ink cartridge in your hands. Please repeat the exercise found in the next picture.

Repeat this procedure and do it firmly so the contacts attach to their proper location. If the ink cartridge contacts are in place, you will be able to reach maximum functioning and lower the chance of general cartridge malfunction.

Step #7:
We suggest you give the ink cartridge contacts a quick cleaning and that the ink cartridges aren’t kept outside of the printer for more than 30 minutes.

If you choose to ignore this advice, you may have some problems with the contacts on your cartridges.

Step #8:
After all this procedure is done, your printer will automatically print a test sheet, which you must now have the printer scan.
