How to reset the Canon IP1880 printer

Canon IP1880 printers are known to have show many different error messages, such as ink tray spills, frozen software, the inability of reading your ink cartridges’ ink levels and paper jams.

At some point, and for a variety of reasons, you will need to restore this printer to get it working again.

Fortunately, this is something you can do on your own without having to call a printer tech, and it will help you save a bit of money.

This restoring procedure has been tested out and it has worked perfect on Canon IP1800 and IP1900 printers, among other models in the Canon IP series.

Instructions for resetting your Canon IP1800 printer:

1. Press and hold the REsume button on your printer for 2 minutes and let go of it.

2. Gt the printer’s cover open, remove the company-manufactured ink cartridge and replace it. Put the cover back on the printer and keep it in its locked position.

3. Turn the printer off by pressing the Power key. You can now disconnect the printer’s power cord and leave it unplugged from 30 seconds to 1 minute. Plug the printer back and press the Power button again to turn it back on.

How to replace Canon ink cartridges

We think it’s very important you know how to change the ink cartridges n your printer. This may take a bit of practice, but it’s something you need to be familiarized with.

Please follow these steps to replace the ink cartridges of a Canon Inkjet printer.

Instructions:

1. Choose an ink cartridge that’s compatible with your printer mode. Canon ink can be versatile, so you may have to choose between Black ink cartridges, Colored ones  or packs that include both colored and black ones.

2. Turn your Canon printer on. The On/Off button can be found on the upper-right side. Now, open the printer’s lid.

3. Get the lid open. This tutorial has been made for Canon printers that use two (2) ink cartridges, which cover about 92% of Canon printer models.

4. Wait a minute. The ink cartridge carriage will stop automatically.

5. Put your hand behind the current ink cartridge and pull it towards you until it pops out. You can now choose to refill or discard it.

6. Remove the ribbon on the new ink cartridge.

7. Put the new ink cartridge inside the printer. Make sure it’s been set in the right position.

8. Push the carriage softly until it fits in its proper place. Some ink cartridges hae indicators that willlet you know if they’ve been placed properly.

9. Close the printer’s lid and print a test sheet to make sure everything’s working perfectly.

U053	4	1687	The ink cartridge hasn’t been recognized	A faulty or inappropriate ink cartridge has been installed on the MFP	If you’re using an MFP appropriate ink cartridge, clean the ink cartridge and carriage connectors. If this doesn’t help, replace the entire ink cartridge.   You can find out which ink cartridge is faulty by taking all of them out of the printer and placing them back inside one by one, checking your computer screen frequently. When there are two ink cartridges inside the printer at the same time, the computer will probably blame the Colored one, even if the Black one is faulty
U051U059	5	1401 1485	There aren’t any ink or toner cartridges installed, or the ones set in the printer haven’t been set up properly	Install the appropriate ink cartridge
