Error codes for Canon MP140, MP150, MP160, MP190, MP210 and MP220 printers

Here are some of the most frequent error codes that show up on Canon printers. Once we theses codes show up, we can restore both regular and Multifunction printers made for domestic use. If we do this, we can solve many problems that appear after refilling our ink cartridges.

The following error codes on MFP MP140, MP150, MP160, MP190, MP210 and MP220 printers will stand out: your printer’s LED will blink yellow several times, followed by one long, green blink.

E3	3	1300	Paper jam	Remove the jammed paper sheet, close the printer’s lid and press the Resume/Cancel button	If there isn’t an actual paper jam, check the paper sensor inside your printer. This error can cause roller  and/or printer  malfunction.
E4		1600	No ink	Place the ink cartridge back in the printer	In order to print with the ink left in your cartridge, click on the Continue button, marked with a triangle inside a circle
E5	5	1401 1485 1687	There aren’t any ink cartridges installed in the printer / Wrong ink cartridge for this printer model / The toner cartridge hasn’t been installed properly	Install the appropriate ink cartridge in the printer	If you’re using the proper ink cartridge for your printer mode, reinstall it, clean the contacts on the cartridge and the carriages. If this doesn’t help, replace the ink cartridge entirely. To find out if the ink cartridge is faulty, look at its current status on the computer screen, remove both ink cartridges and place them back inside one by one. If there are more than two colored ink cartridge in the printer at the same time, the printer will usually say the Black one is defective.
E8		1700 1701	Warning: the Ink Waste Absorber is 95% full	Press the Restore/Cancel button to continue	The MPF will become blocked after the waste absorber has filled 100% and won’t work until you reset the counter back to zero (0)
E9		2001	The MFP isn’t compatible with the digital camera attached to it	Turn the camera off and press the Restore/Cancel button to continue	This MFP cannot work with this particular digital camera
E14		1684	MFP doesn’t recognize the ink cartridge (this ink cartridge doesn’t fit in this printer model)	Located on the proper IFI ink cartridge for this particular MFP model
