Error codes for Canon MP240, MP250, MP260, MP270, MP280 and MP480 printers

This post contains information about some of the printers that aver having Continuous Ink Systems installed the most in current times.These printers are also being sold all over Latin America.

E04 U053 *	4	1687	The ink cartridge isn’t being recognized or hasn’t been installed on the printer properly	Install the proper ink cartridge on your printing device	If you’ve already installed an MPF-appropriate ink cartridge on your printer, clean the contacts on it and on the ink cartridge carriage. If this doesn’t help, you should replace this particular ink cartridge. You will be able to tell if an ink cartridge is faulty by removing all of the cartridges from the printer and placing them back inside individually. Keep an eye out for any messages displayed on the screen of the computer attached to the printer. More often than not, the printer will blame the Colored ink cartridge, when it’s actually the Black one that’s causing all this trouble, and viceversa. Solution compatible with Canon MP480 printers
E05 * U051U052 *U059 *	5	1401 1403 1485	No ink cartridges installed / abnormal ink cartridge overheating: ink cartridge EEPROM error message	Install the proper ink cartridge on your printer	If you’ve already installed an MPF-appropriate ink cartridge on your printer, clean the contacts on it and on the ink cartridge carriage. E09	9	2001	The digital camera attached to the MFP printer is not compatible with it	Turn the digital camera off and press the Resume/Cancel button to continue	The printer cannot work with this digital camera
E13 U162 *	13	1686	The MPF can’t determine how much ink is left inside the ink cartridges (B Set and/or refilled ink cartridges)	Place the ink cartridge back in the printer or disable the ink level monitors	To disable ink level monitors, press and hold the Resume/Cancel key for more than 5 seconds. This will be labelled as”Stop/Reset” on your printer and is surrounded by a circle. However, it’s identified with  a triangle in the printer’s user manual. E14 U140 *	14	1684	The MFP isn’t recognizing the ink cartridges: the ink cartridge doesn’t fit this printer model	Install an ink cartridge adequate for this particular MFP model	* Only for Canon MP480 printers.

E16 U163 *	16	1688	The printer’s out of ink	Replace the ink cartridge or disable the ink level monitors hasta el residuo de tinta dopechatat trabajo . Print quality is not guaranteed	To disable the ink level monitors, press and hold the Resume/Cancel button for more than 5 seconds. This button will show up in the user’s manual a triangle, and has been labeled Stop/Reset on the printer. It’s also surrounded by a circle. This solution is compatible with the MP180 printer
E19	19	2002	An incompatible device has been attached to the printer: incompatible Hub error	Disconnect this device from the printer

Error codes on Canon MP170, MP180, MP450 and MP460 printers

These error codes for Canon MFP MP170, MP180, MP450 and MP460 printers are known to make the LED indicator blink yellow, with long, green blinks between every yellow one.

U041		1600	Out of ink	Place the empty ink cartridge back in the printer	In order to print with the remaining ink, click on OK. Print quality is not guaranteed.
U053	4	1687	The ink cartridge hasn’t been recognized	A faulty or inappropriate ink cartridge has been installed on the MFP	If you’re using an MFP appropriate ink cartridge, clean the ink cartridge and carriage connectors. If this doesn’t help, replace the entire ink cartridge.   You can find out which ink cartridge is faulty by taking all of them out of the printer and placing them back inside one by one, checking your computer screen frequently. When there are two ink cartridges inside the printer at the same time, the computer will probably blame the Colored one, even if the Black one is faulty
U051U059	5	1401 1485	There aren’t any ink or toner cartridges installed, or the ones set in the printer haven’t been set up properly	Install the appropriate ink cartridge
		1700 1710	Warning: the ink absorber pad is 95% full	Press the Resume/Cancel button to continue	The printer will become blocked and stop working altogether once the ink absorber pad is 100% full. This will not stop until the counter is set back to zero (0)
		2001	The MFP isn’t compatible with the digital camera attached to it	Turn the digital camera off and press the Resume/Cancel key to continue	The MFP cannot work with this digital camera
U052	15	1682	The installed ink cartridge isn’t been recognized by the printer	Install an ink cartridge compatible with MFP use	If you’ve installed an MFP appropriate ink cartridge, clean the contacts on the cartridge and the carriage. If this doens’t help, replace the entire ink cartridge. You can detect faulty ink cartridges by removing them all from the printer and placinng them back inside one by one, taking a good look at your computer’s screen for any error message.  The printer will tend to blame the Colored ink cartridge, even if the Black one is defective
U161 U162		1685 1686	The MFP cannot determine the amount of ink left in the ink cartridges (B Set and/or refilled ink cartridges)	Place the ink cartridge back in the printer or disable the ink level monitors c	In order to disable the monitors, follow the instructions that will appear on the screen of the computer attached to the printer. Press OK once the ink level monitor error appears.

Error codes for Canon MFP MP140, MP150, MP160, MP190, MP210 and MP220 printers

These error codes for Canon MFP MP140, MP150, MP160, MP190, MP210 and MP220 don’t erase the user’s data on the printer. The LED will blink in a yellow-green color, with long green blinks in the middle.
