The real secret behind HP 122 ink cartridges (CH561HL)

It’s a known fact that these ink cartridges are the biggest scam in the market for many different reasons, especially its low 120 page yield. The ink cartridge itself warns you about this fact on the packaging, which is completely unfair for a product that costs more than $10.

This ink cartridge holds but 2ml of ink and yields up to 122 pages.

Personally, I find this very unfair, but that’s not even the biggest problem here. The actual issue is the discrimination going on in Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P., with all the respect they deserve as an enterprise.
This picture portrays an HP Deskjet 1000 printer, a very popular model throughout Latin America. Another successful printer in the region is the HP 2050 - J510. As you can see, both models compatible with the HP 122 ink cartridge. HP continues to evolve every year, but it seems they’re focusing on their own personal profit coming, of course, from our pockets, not on improving their products or offering more to their clients.

I will now show you why I oppose this particular injustice that’s happening in front of us.
ink cartridge 122 in box
ink cartridge 122 in box
This is the ink cartridge we Latin Americans are used to seeing all over the market. You can clearly see it’s compatible with HP Deskjet 1000, 1050, 1055, 2000, 2050, 3000, 3050 and 3500A printer models, products sold throughout the region. We recommend you read our post that talks about why HP 122 ink cartridges become damaged so fast.

We’ll now show you the Hp 61 Black ink cartridge (CH561WA):
ink black 61 in box
hp ink 61 in box
Here we have the Hp 61 ink cartridge, which holds 4ml of ink, yields up 190 pages and is sold in the US exclusively. You may be surprised to learn this product is also compatible with HP Deskjet 1000, 1050, 1055, 2000, 2050, 3000, 3050, 3500A, 3051A, 3052A, 3054 and 3054A printer models.

You can try looking for this ink cartridge’s datasheet, but if you’re doing it from Latin America or countries such as Japan, India and China, the website will automatically kick you out: their sale is restricted in all of these regions.

Now, do you think it’s fair one ink cartridge holds twice as much ink as the other, but they cost the same? The only real difference between these two is the places they’re sold at.

Please keep in mind you must never try placing an HP 61 ink cartridge inside any printer that uses HP 1222 ones. The printer will not recognize the ink cartridge and send out an error message at once.

However, it doesn’t end with these two ink cartridges. Please allow us to introduce the HP 301 Black ink cartridge (CH561EE).

HP 301 Black ink cartridge

This ink cartridge is only sold in Europe and the United Kingdom. I already know what you’re thinking: is it compatible with HP Deskjet 1000 printers made in the USA? This ink cartridge also holds 4ml of ink and yields 190 pages, and costs the same as the ink cartridges we have here in Latin America.

In all honesty, knowing this is happening is very frustrating for me, since customers don’t really have anyone who stands up for them and this is a hard process to give and end to. It seems companies only want to earn money and make us feel like using their products is the best we can do. If you do the math, the cost of one page keeps increasing for us, who are supposed to be the poorest ones.

How is, then, that they don’t want us to refill our ink cartridges? We all know their raw materials don’t cost that much, so please don’t take advantage of us.

This, however, is just something I want to talk about, a claim I need to make and a single speck of sand in the sea of deception we’re currently living in.

What is a headprint?

A headprint is a key element to the printing process, since it’s responsible for the electromechanical procedure of injecting the ink on a paper sheet.

In a few words, they are the actual printer.

Two fundamental parts of the headprint play a major role in this printing process: the electronic circuit that controls the injectors, and the injectors themselves, which set ink on the paper sheets to produce a print. The original information for this post was taken from todoinkjet.com

The best advice for taking care of an ink cartridge

It all starts when we open up a new ink cartridge and try it out for the first time. Ideally, we’d stop using it before it ran out and always leave a bit of ink inside it. In this way, we could refill this cartridge and place it back in the printer with no problems.

If you follow these steps strictly, you won’t even have to clean your ink cartridges before refilling them. PEople who recycle or refill ink cartridges can notice right away that most people don’t know this, or choose to ignore it.

As a recycler, we’ve decided to save ourselves a bit of work and invest a large share of our time in in educating our clients, so they can take care of their ink cartridges and extend their lives. This save the client a lot of money and the recycler a bunch of work.

For reasons we’ve already explained, the client must understand printing on an empty ink cartridge could finish it.

We usually come across ink cartridges that have been stored for a long while, leaving the headprint unprotected. In this cases, the most important thing to do is clean them thoroughly, both inside and out, to check if all injectors are working properly and ink is flowing through them.

Another way of taking care of your injectors is to protect the print heads after the cartridge has been refilled. Applying a good technique will keep the injectors from clogging with dried ink before they’re placed in the printer. We’ll explain this later on this same article.

It is also important you use the printer constantly and avoid storing it away with the ink cartridges inside. Even when printer count with protection systems inside the print heads, they won’t keep them safe for long periods of time.

Even though these pieces of advice are trying to show you the best way of taking care of your ink cartridges, they don’t mean you can’t refill ink cartridges at all or save them for a while before using them.

These suggestions are focused on extending your ink cartridge’s working life, but there are also many ways of recovering them and using them to print once more. Keep reading here.

Advice for taking care of your ink cartridge’s electronic circuit

The electronic circuit is the one responsible for taking orders directly from the printer and translating them for the ink heads, which will start the printing process.

As the sole controller of the all ink heads, this circuit cannot be replaced or fixed once it’s burned out or damaged entirely, and the ink cartridge will stop working.

Most of the time, the circuit will stop working before the ink head; people usually find out this has happened one the printer doesn’t recognize they’ve just placed inside it.

Some advice for taking care of the electronic circuit:

To avoid messing with the circuit at all, remove and replace ink cartridges while your printer’s turned off.

By printer off in the traditional way, the ink cartridges will go back to resting position and we won’t able to take them out.

However, there’s a trick that can fix this. Once the printer reaches its changing position, we must unplug it to leave exactly in this spot. The information for this post was taken from this website.

Restoring codes for Epson L100, L220 and L1800 ink bottles

We stand in front of a new era in printers, a time for adapting to the evolution of printers and also for trying to get an original, built-in CISS in our printing devices.

It seems these rather original printers are around the corner, or is just Epson trying to get ahead of anyone who wants to take its place by selling built-in CISS printers? Well, guess what?

As usual, they win. They’ve set extremely high prices and are forced to sell the only thing that has earned them money their entire lives: ink cartridges. However, in this particular case, they won’t be selling ink cartridges, but only ink. This product is called bulk ink.

But how are they going to earn more money from this? It’s actually pretty simple. Ever ink bottle will have its own code, which you can insert when buying one of these articles directly and only from them.

Maybe you’re also interested in reading about eradicating ink pad end-of-life error messages on Epson L200 printers, as well as learning how to clean the print heads in an Epson L200 printer.

You can also find in our blog many helpful tutorial such as how to clean Epson L200 print heads thoroughly, just in case the former cleaning procedure didn’t work out for you; how to change the language on Epson L200 printers, and how to align headpritnts.

We’ve managed to find these codes by looking around and have tested them out already. So far, they’ve worked perfectly. The only thing you need to do with these Epson ink bottles is pour it into the Continous Ink System as you would in any other printer with CISS. You can start working with these codes shown ahead whenever you want.

How to refill Canon 211 and 211XL ink cartridges

As we all know, these are some great ink cartridges, that are known for their high page yield and overall functioning.

Canon 211 and 211XL cartridges are the most widely used ink cartridge model in Continuous Ink Systems (CISS), which have become rather popular in current times.

This particular ink cartridge’s quality lies on its high page yield and, like most good things in life, they tend to be a bit pricey. This condition has led us to refill them, so we can save some money and keep moving forward.

Here are the instructions to refill your Canon 211 and 211XL ink cartridges:

1. First of all, place the ink cartridge on a surface that can take one or more ink spills. This particular ink cartridge, due to its manufacturing, won’t let any ink leave the carcass, but we recommend you do this anyway.

2. Remove the label on top the ink cartridge to find three (3) small orifices. They’ll look too small to fit an ink-filled syringe, but you’ll be able to do it anyway. If you can’t do it, we recommend you use a small drilling device to widen these holes just a bit.
ink cartridge 211 tricolor refill
ink cartridge 211 tricolor
3. You must inject 5ml of ink into every one of these holes. Be very careful about the color placing, since mixing the colors up can damage the ink cartridge.

4. Remember to fill the ink cartridge very slowly with the colored ink. Try to put the label back on it while leaving some space for the air to flow inside the ink cartridge. Place the ink cartridge back in the printer and leave it there for about eight (8) hours so the sponges become soaked with ink.

Make HP Officejet 6500 printers recognize its ink cartridges

We usually have problems with HP Officejet 6500 printers, since they refuse to recognize the ink cartridges we’ve placed inside them, whether they’re brand new, recycled or refilled.
printer hp 6500
printer hp 6500
We even considered the print heads were damaged, but this was a mistake: the problem persisted after these parts were replaced.

Replacing an entire HP Officejet 6500 headprint will cost you $45,00, a considerable amount to pay to replace an article that’s in perfect shape.

We’ve done quite a bit of research and have come to realize this problem is caused by a small sensor. This sensor is located on the left side of the mechanism that makes the ink cartridges move from one side to the other throughout the entire printing process.

Procedure to eradicate ink cartridge recognition issues on HP Officejet 6500 printers:

Step #1:
This procedure will help you clean your HP Officejet 6500 printer’s sensor, which is not recognizing the ink cartridges. We must press our printer’s On/Off button, located on the front side of the panel. The On/off button looks like this.

Step #2:
Open the gate leading to the ink cartridges. This will imply raising everything, the scanner included, to take a good look at the ink cartridges. Wait for them to reach the center of the printer and leaving the left side free.

Step #3:
Locate the sensor on the lower-left side of the ink cartridges; it will look like a small square. You must clean this section very carefully using a small piece of fabric to get the printer to recognize the ink cartridges.

Step #4:
Close your HP Officejet 6500 printer’s gate and wait for the ink cartridges to get back to their proper spot. You can now  print a test sheet.

Please verify the printer has properly recognized each ink cartridge. In case this doesn’t happen, you can contact us by leaving a comment in the section below this post.

My Sharp AL-1361 Copier prints the sides of my pages very blurrily

Thank you all so much for showing interest in this particular solution! If you’re reading this, we’ve been working on a Sharp AL-1361 that’s been printing sides rather bleary.

We’ve already tried anything in our power, such as replacing the toner and the entire unit with new ones. We’ve tried working with both new pieces, as well as with one new and one used article. So far, we’ve had the exact same print quality issues. We’d be very greateful for your help.

https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B9rztpEWNmezZzh1SFVsckFkYTg
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B9rztpEWNmezZzh1SFVsckFkYTg.

Please explain this procedures in an easy way, so this solution can remain in yoreparo.com for othe users’ needs.

Solution to this problem:

Thank you all so much for collaborating on this particular issue and solving this case in a communal effort. This is clearly the best possible way of coming up with a solution, since some of you have knowledge in certain areas others ignore.

Obviously, whoever’s asking this question lacks the information necessary. Please be very specific about the terms you’re using, and thank you very much for the information you’re supplying.

Solution to this problem:

In order to solve this problem, we had to go all the way to the laser unit. This is the light that shines inside the scanner, the unit responsible for copying an image and turning it into text later on. The copier itself was in perfect shape regarding toner, toner developer, cylinder, etc.

However, the problem lied on the image it was actually receiving and copying. The copies didn’t come out properly because the printer wasn’t able to see the images well, all this due to a bit of filth that was getting in the way of the mirrors. The laser unit had to be dismounted entirely to clean each and every one of the mirrors inside it.

This process must be done with extreme care and using very delicate materials, since the mirrors are clearly very delicate.

Here is a picture of the mirrors you must clean inside the laser unit:

Resetting the chips on Sharp AL-2021/AL-2031/AL-2041 copiers

Dear readers, this question has been all over the Internet recently, and I’ve also wanted to know the answer to it in the past. The Internet is also responsible for helping us techs out, who must solve many problems in our workshops.

As it turns out, Sharp has stopped standing out for us and is now focused on selling more and more printers. It seems they’re only interested in getting us to buy the latest product and throwing them out as soon as a new one comes along.
reset sharp toner chip
reset tóner chip for sharp
Sharp AI-1000 toners used to be used in Sharp AI-2040 printers, for example. These toners in particular are known for their resistance, and they yield  much more than any other toner, whether it’s a new or refilled one.Nowadays, this toner has been replaced by the sought-after AL-204TD, a very hard toner to use. If you have one at hand, you can make sure we’re talking about the same toner.

This toner is renowned among us techs nowadays, and the main question lies in how to restore them and get them to stop saying they’re empty after they’ve ran out; buying a new toner off the bat is not an easy thing to do. The main problem here is the printer refuses to continue printing, a problem caused by none other than the chip you can see in this next picture.
toner cartridge for sharp al-2031
toner cartridge for sharp al-2031

This very chip shown in the picture can be a bit hard to restore, and we can’t offer a solution for this situation right now. If you, reader, happen to know of a solution to this particular issue, we’d be very grateful if you put it in a comment in the section below this post so we could publish it on the blog.

However, not all is lost. Remember why I keep recommending you install a page counter program on your computer? Here’s the reason why.

Installing this piece of software is one of the best things we can do; one of its main advantages is learning when our toner or ink cartridge is about to run out. Like we said, there’s still hope, and this is the one loophole Sharp completely forgot about.

If toner runs out in these printers and you choose to refill them, we regret to inform you the printer will always say the cartridges are empty and you will need to buy an entirely new chip to fix this problem. We happen to have these in stock in our online shop, so look for them, order the exact amount you need and check our shipping and delivery options. In our store tinta.com.do, we offer them to you at the best price in the entire American continent, and can even provide a tracking number so you always know your order’s exact location.

Another thing you can do is to avoid letting the toner dust run out completely. If you already know how long it takes for this to happen, just refill it before the toner’s empty. You’ll then be using this same toner until the toner developer is depleted. This is exactly why we recommend you install a page counter.

Note: This post has been created by us using information we’ve compiled in our workshop, where we’ve fixed this problem multiple times. We certainly appreciate any comment you may have, and are aware this is not the only piece of information regarding this subject. If you know of any other fix to this issue, please post it in the section below.

Noise and some other issues in HP Multifunction printers

These last HP Multifunction printer generations have been a bit more sensitive than the previous ones. There are many issues with them, and one of the most frequent one is the rattling noise caused by the cartridge carriage moving swiftly from one side to the other.

Most people choose to ignore these little warnings, so this minor problem can become a much more grave one.

With the passing of time, the printer will stop working completely: it won’t scan, copy or print, and it will pull paper leaves and leave them empty. That’s when we start asking ourselves what could have gone wrong.

The answer is very simple: in one or many different paper jams, you pulled too hard on the paper sheet without canceling the document, whether on your computer, your printer or by unplugging the entire device.

Once you’ve repeated this exact procedure on your printer, it will eject a single paper sheet without having to pull on it, which could possibly break a small gear located at the end of the sliding bar where the cartridge carriage moves. It will surely get damaged or broken after the carriage hits it.

If this actually happens, we recommend you take your printer to a tech workshop where someone can find this piece for you, or change the entire printer if necessary.

Here we’ll show you two pictures of this piece:

a. Entire piece placed inside the printer. This is what the piece must look like once it’s inside.

My Sharp copier prints blurry on top of the page

Sharp copiers are, as we’ve said in previous posts, one of the better ones in the market, and the best purchase you can make as a small-business owner.

This is a Multifunction printer-copier that works with long lasting toners. Almost all Sharp printer-copiers work with the same toner, of course, but we’re referring specifically to the Sharp AL-2040CS one. This is a high-yield device, the scanner is great and it’s also an excellent Multifunction printer-copier.

We recommend you visit Sharp’s official website to learn of any specifications on this same printer model, the one this entire post has been created for.

As we were saying, this printer has been having this exact problem. This link will allow you to see a picture on Google Docs of how the blurry-start-of-page problem looks like. Our pages were coming out exactly as the one shown in the picture, showing up in one of our work printers. We decided to address this issue from every possible angle: changing the cylinder and the toner, opening the printer from the back and observing the entire printing process.

We did anything and everything we knew had done to other printers in our workshop, but we were still missing the mark. Since this was our first time dealing with this problem, we took things slowly and decided to work on the printer every other day with the hope of finding a solution.

In the end, we’re all human beings and ignore some of the cases that may come our way. Solutions usually involve more than one person, since there’s always someone else who knows much more than us about certain aspects.

This next piece of information came to me when I posted a thread on yoreparo.com, a great blogging community where you can find a solution for almost any problem, no matter how big or small it is. We started this thread called “Sharp AL2040CS copies’ are very blurry in one end”, and many answers followed. In the beginning, people proposed the same fixes we’d tried in the past like changing the toner or checking the toner developer, which obviously didn’t answer us.

However, one person did provide us with an actual solution, which was:
“clearly your laser’s mirrors are dirty or the crown thread has torn.”

We didn’t understand all these terms, so we asked our helper what they meant. He showed a lot of confidence when explaining things to us, and made us feel certain of his answer. What he told us about this piece is the following:
"the thread or colotron unit is found inside the crown, which is located in the lateral gate on the right side of the printer."

One of its ends could be out of place: you may be able to see the slots it rests on. The machine will also have another crown, the loading one, but this one’s inside the cylinder. If you’ve already replaced the entire cylinder, then this second crown doesn’t have anything to do with the problem. Good luck and greetings!”

Then, we started looking for this same piece, the crown, and took advantage of the help we received. In the following picture, we’ll show you what the crown looks like.

Based on the information we got from our helper back at the yoreparo.com forum, we were able to locate the broken piece: it’s a small thread that can be seen in the inside of this other piece found on the gate. You can’t really appreciate it in the picture since it’s so fine, but it’s similar to a knitting thread.

We recommend you treat this filament very delicately, given the case it’s actually broken and you need to lay a new one in. In our case, it wasn’t completely broken, but our printer did have a torn piece.

As we can see in the previous picture, the broken piece has already been replaced and everything looks great. Our situation was a bit more complicated, so here’s another picture of this piece’s former state.

As you can see, the part highlighted in red is broken right at the bracket. As days went by, this caused the crown thread we mentioned to tear just like this.
part image sharp problem solving

This left us with only one solution: replacing it for a new one. Luckily for us, we have a few printers that haven’t been in working conditions for a while, but that happened to have this exact piece in perfect shape. Therefore, we were able to replace this thread with a new one.

The fixed area of our copier looks like this:

this sharp piece where the filament
Everything will seem to work perfectly even when this problem is in full effect, so it could continue to damage important parts of the printer in the process. We recommend you fix this issue quickly in order to avoid bad news and bigger expenses.

Please keep in mind the information supplied in this document doesn’t belong to the printer’s manufacturer, but is based on on our personal experience as techs.

This technique has worked for us so we decided to share it. In case you know of any other solution, please post it in the comment section below.

How to find out my printer’s model

This post is as necessary as any other one you can find in our blog, since not every person knows how to identify their printer’s model, which can be extremely necessary to know in certain cases, such as detecting the proper ink cartridges for your printer.

In some cases, you could be out in the street and realize you have forgotten to buy your own ink cartridges, so you have to send a friend to do it. This person doesn’t know you printer like you do and may lack the knowledge you possess, so it’s extremely important you know the specific printer model you’re using.

Note: You mustn’t confuse your printer’s model with the brand. Model: a specific type inside a brand; there aren’t any more versions of this particular printer inside the same brand. This fact will also help you identify any spare part or problem that may be happening on your printer. Brand: a more universal specification that involves several different articles. In this case, we’re talking about HP, Canon, Lexmark and others.

Now we will show you where you can find these exact specifications on the actual printer. Most domestic or business use printers, around 90% of them including copiers and other devices, carry the model with them on their front side. Some of them have it on the right side, some others on the left one.
model of hp printer
model of hp printer
It will all depend on your printer’s brand. For example, HP printers usually have the model drawn on the right side, while Sharp printers have their on the front-left side. This doesn’t mean the printer’s model can be found in the same place on all printers, but it’s an important factor to take into account.

The model is simply a series of numbers or letters, which is usually depicted in large characters and fonts. The font, however, could be more related to the one inscribed in the printer’s carcass, as is shown in the next picture.
how know what is the model of printer see the picture
how know what is the model of printer
This picture shows us where the printer model can be found on the frontal side. However, this is not the only way of finding this out: in the lower part of the printer, there are usually some serial codes that will also allow us to learn the printer’s model. To find out how useful this serial code actually is, you must only Google it to obtain the following results.

The next link will redirect you to the Google results that come up after you put the serial number in the search engine.

Both in the upper and lower part of any printer, you’ll be able to find out its model. We’ve already explained the difference between printer brands and models to avoid future confusions, and we sincerely hope this post will help you solve any inconvenience that may show up. If you need more information on the subject, don’t hesitate on contacting us on our Google group.

This information doesn’t belong to the printer’s manufacturer; we only mentioned certain brands to help illustrate you on this topic. These are only the solutions we apply in our own workshop, so if you know of any other we’d be very grateful to hear about it.

How to setup a default printer

Not having a default printer set up can cause the following issues:

1. The printer won’t respond when you want to print a document. As you already know, printers need to start certain processes when printing, such as the headprints moving from one side to the other and making a bit of working noise. This won’t happen if you don’t have a default printer installed on your computer.

2. Documents could stay on a disconnected printer’s queue, and will only start printing after this same printer has been plugged back into the computer.

3. You may use paper up unnecessarily. If you’re working an in office and want to print a document using the printer there, but it hasn’t been installed as the default one, the computer may choose to print the document on some other printer. The computer will choose any printer that is currently installed as the default one, regardless of where it is.

Now, how do we set a printer of our choosing as the default one?

This is a very simple operation, and we only need to know our printer’s model in order to get it done; finding this out is also very easy. Once you’ve obtained the model, you must go to these places in your computer:

First click on Start Menu, enter the Control Panel, and then access Printing Devices. Once you’re in there, right-click on the printer you want to turn into the default one.
set defaut printer
how set defaut printer
The following image will show you how to click on Control Panel to continue setting up a default printer of your choosing on your computer.

This other one will help you identify Printing Devices on the Control Panel menu.
printer and device in panel
printer in panel control
Finally, this last picture will teach you how to set a default printer up after identifying your printer’s model.
set defaut printer in windows
set defaut printer windows
As we’ve explained before, we must right-click on the printer we want to set up as the default one. Then we must click exactly where the arrow is pointing, which will allow us to add a default printer that will print every document we want. This will save us some bad times and many paper sheets.

This post has been created based on previous experiences in our workshop with similar cases and situations. If you think you know of a different solution to this same problem, please post it in the comment section below. We’re very grateful for other people’s points of view.

Getting rid of paper jams in Canon printers

Canon printers are great devices which are used all over the world currently. Someone has stated they’re specially good for Continuous Ink Systems, but I happen to disagree with this. If you wish to, you can read all about this on our post called All you need to know about Continuous Ink Systems. However, people choose to use these printers more and more often, even when this generation, as well as the previous ones, have exactly the same issue.

This is not a problem per se, but more of a quality that tends to compromise their functioning. These printers are prone both to paper jams and to paper feeding issues.

This condition tends to repeat itself in every printer where paper sheets are fed from the top, such as the HP Deskjet 1000 series and most Canon Inkjet printers.
Getting rid of paper jams in Canon printers
paper jam the printer canon
As you can see in this picture, the upper paper tray is being marked by arrows, meaning this is the exact site where sheets are fed to the printer when the printing process starts.

This paper tray’s vulnerability comes to mind immediately, making us think of how easily any foreign object, or even an insect, can enter the printer through it. This is a very open section and we’ve found everything from pencils to bugs in it, so we imagine anything can enter the printer without us knowing.

The solution is fairly simple: we must only look for a piece of cardboard and use it as it were a regular paper sheet. We could also use an actual paper sheet that has been folded multiple times to do this.

This process will help us realize if there’s any obstacle in the way of the paper sheets, and extract it very carefully. Always remember to remove any residue that may be in this location.

This post is based on the information we’ve compiled in our workshop, where we’ve dealt with similar cases. This is but one solution to this problem, and we suggest you execute every step just as was described in this post. If you know of any other way of fixing it, please post a comment in the section below and help us help you.

Solving the 5200 error message on Canon printers

This post deals with solving 5200 error code on Canon printers, which may appear after restoring your printer many times. This will be pretty easy.

Once this error message appears, you can try to restore your ink cartridges as many times as you want and get no results whatsoever. This is why we suggest a different sort of rebooting process, focusing on restoring the printer instead of the cartridges.

The steps to solving 5200 error code on Canon printers are the following:

  1. Disconnect your printer’s power cord without disconnecting the printer from the PC.
  2. Open the printer’s gate.
  3. Press the On/Off button for about 5 to 10 seconds.
  4. Plug the power cord back in the printer while still pressing the On/Off button.
  5. Use a pen to press the button that indicates the printer gate’s closed for about ten seconds. Do not let go of the On/Off key.
  6. Release the On/Off button and close the printer’s gate.
  7. Once it’s been closed, turn the printer on.

This procedure should get rid of the 5200 error message on your Canon printer right away. However, if the problem persists, try restarting the ink cartridges manually one more time.

This post is based on information we’ve compiled from the Internet; you can click on this list to visit the origianl post. We’ve also executed this procedure in our workshop and everything has gone smoothly. This post doesn’t belong to the printer’s manufacturer at all. If you know of any other solution to this problem, we’d be very grateful if you posted it in a comment in the section below.

How to delete documents in my printing queue

This post will help you get rid of pending documents that remain in your printer’s queue, which can become a very uncomfortable situation. We will have to waste paper sheets and time, maybe even ink, to fix this problem.

Sometimes, a document is coming out through the printing tray and we realize this is not the page or the document we wanted to print in the beginning, or that it’s simply not looking good and we need to cancel the entire file. Therefore, we head to the printer queue and cancel it, but the document stays there.

We choose to restart the computer and, once it’s back on, we see the document hasn’t left the queue. This can be so annoying we can start thinking printers are conspiring against us, even if we know this isn’t true.

This can be caused by two things: either the printer’s input card is worn out, or the cable that sends information to the printer from the PC is too old. As you can see, this is a communication problem between the computer and the printer.

In order to remove this document from the printing queue, the same one that isn’t allowing the printer to print anything else until this one’s done, all we need to do is get rid of any form of communication that may exist between the printer and the queued document on the computer. Here are the steps you must follow to eradicate this problem.

Follow the steps exactly as they’re described ahead to obtain the best possible outcome of this tutorial.

The solution to this issue starts now
This is a very simple procedure. All we need to know is our printer’s model, which is also very easy to find out. Once you’ve obtained this piece of information, you must go to the following locations on your computer:

Go to Start Menu, click on Control Panel and then on Printing Devices. There, you will right-click on the printer with the queued documents.  You will be able to identify this printer right away since it will show the amount of pending documents in the bottom-right corner, or just by hovering on the printer’s icon.

You must now open this printer and see the documents that are on queue, and then click on Cancel All Documents on the window that will show up onscreen.

This next image will show you how and what to click on Control Panel to set a default printer on your computer.

The next picture will illustrate how to establish a printer of our choosing as the default one after identifying our printer’s model.

Once you’ve hovered over the printer, as previously indicated by us, we’ll be able to identify which printer has documents on queue and proceed to right-click on it, opening the window that will let us see these files.

Here is the window we’ve been looking for, where we’ll detect the exact file that’s causing all this trouble. This is the route you must follow from now on:

Click on the lower-left part of the window, right where it says Printer / Cancel All Documents. Do this once more exactly where it says Printer / Cancel All Documents.

Disconnect the USB cable and connect it once more if the document is still in queue; you must wait about a minute. Disconnect the power cord that feeds the printer.

If the problem persists, remove all the paper sheets from the tray and restart the computer.

This must have solved the queued documents issue in our printers, which will stop printing these files. Its LED indicators will also stop blinking and asking for more paper sheets.

This post is based on information we’ve compiled in our workshop. We’ve executed this same procedure and it has worked perfectly on our printers. If you have any other question or know of a better solution for this issue, please post a comment in the section below.

The ink cartridge carriage is stuck

When our printers show this stuck carriage problem or we’re able to see they’re not moving properly from one side to the other, maybe even notice some sort of obstacle in the way, we recommend you follow this secure procedure.

First of all, you must turn the printer off and unplug the power cord, as well as any other cable that is attached to it at the moment.

You must now check the printer by opening the ink cartridge gate:

If you’re able to detect any foreign object that’s in the way of the carriage, remove it from the printer as delicately as possible. You can then turn the printer back on and check the cartridge carriages are moving freely, and that no error message appears on the printer’s screen.

If the problem persists, continue to open a new gate located in the back of your printer, as is shown in the picture.
open door

This will help you see any paper sheet or part of it that’s compromising your printer’s proper functioning. Remove this piece of paper delicately to harming the printer, and put the lid back where you took it from.

Please check your printer’s functioning once more

If you haven’t been able to solve this problem, you must also know improper cartridge placement could also be the cause. You can then proceed to remove them slowly; please visit the printer's manufacturer website or check the instructions manual for the correct placing of the cartridges. Follow the steps indicated, check as many times as you must and print a test sheet you rid yourself of doubt.

Once this has been fixed, you must remember its exact cause and keep it from happening again; this will save you bigger issues in the future. If none of these suggestions helped you, please reach out to a professional, since this minor issue could be due to more serious problems.

Drivers for the Lexmark Z510 series printers

Here are the drivers you will need for your Lexmark Z510 printer, an old model that works with high-yield ink cartridges. We’ve recommended this link in a post we’ve published regarding the older models:

Why to avoid disposing of or replacing my old printer

How to refill HP 22 tricolor ink cartridges

This HP 22 Tricolor ink cartridge is one of the best products ever made by HP, due to its high yield and the material they’re made of. These cartridges have a higher resistance than most current ones; modern ink cartridges tend to be measured with the same criteria. You can read more about this on our post Why to avoid disposing of or replacing my old printer.

One of the most important factors to consider when naming a product one of the best ones of an entire brand, as we’re doing right now, is compatibility. This particular ink cartridge is compatible with countless printer models; the entire compatibility listing will appear further along this post.

You can also learn to refill the HP 21 Black ink cartridge, the one that accompanies this one. This one’s also a very high yield ink cartridge.

We also recommend you keep any printer that uses this ink cartridge until the very end. You can replace it once it’s incapable of printing again.

This ink cartridge yields up to 165 pages, an amount that can go down to 120 pages after it’s been refilled. This will stay this way as long as you follow this tutorial strictly.

Instructions to refill an HP 22 Tricolor ink cartridge:

Before starting the refill process, we recommend you clean the contacts on this ink cartridge. While this is necessary, it’s not really mandatory since these ink cartridges are known to have very high page yield. However, if you haven’t used them in a while, there may be some dried ink lying on the print heads. In this case, we recommend you read our post How to clean my print heads.

After this cleaning process has been done, again, a necessary but voluntary procedure, we’ll proceed to refilling our ink cartridges. Please remember to clean your cartridge’s print heads after they’ve been refilled three (3) times.

Step #1:
Place the cartridge on a surface that can take an ink spill or two. We recommend you stay away from white materials, since the ink will probably stay on them. This is why we suggest you use any black material, or even a flat surface where you can remove ink stains easily.

Step #2:
You can now remove the label located on the top of the ink cartridge; it will hold the ink cartridge’s number. We always recommend you remove the entire label before refilling your ink cartridge, since this label lets the necessary amount of ink enter the ink cartridge. This airflow aids your print quality and page yield, helping your printer reach the highest standards. Remove this label very slowly and keep it from harm.

Step #3:
Fill a syringe with 5ml of colored ink. Do not exceed this amount to avoid damaging your cartridge by surpassing the amount of ink it was made to hold. Adding more ink than necessary to an ink cartridge can jeopardize it.
Tak a look at color application in the following picture.
where the color for the ink cartridge 22

Step #4:
Very carefully, place the labels back on the ink cartridges. Try and put these back as well as possible to allow a certain amount of air to enter the cartridge; this air will flow thorugh the canals inside the cartridge and make the ink drop.

Step #5:
Place the cartridge back in the printer and have the printer clean them. This will put them in the right stop. Take into account you’ll only reach ultimate print quality once you’ve printed about eight (8) pages using these ink cartridges. You could also print a color test sheet if you want to.

Even if you repeat this entire procedure just as we did it, things may not go according to plan. In that case, we have plenty of time to help you, and you must only post a comment in the section below this post to contact us. We’ll be glad to answer each one of your messages.
