How to refill the HP 60 tricolor ink cartridge

These cartridges, which work with water-based or dyed inks, have a high page yield and overall functioning, and can print up to 165 pages. These belong to the latest generation of HP ink cartridges.

This particular cartridge has a lower page yield than usual, but still maintains HP printing quality. You should be able to print about 100 pages after refilling them with 3ml of ink, which you can learn how to do by following the instructions ahead.

The HP 60 tricolor ink cartridge is compatible with the following HP printer models: HP deskjet D1660, D2530, D2545, D2560, D2660, D2680, D5545 and D556. Before you refill this cartridge, remember it was made for domestic use, and shouldn’t be used for any business related tasks.

Refill procedure for the HP 60 tricolor ink cartridge:

Before you refill an ink cartridge, we recommend you do this procedure on a surface you can clean easily, whether it’s a flat surface itself or a piece of wood. In case you can’t find any of these, you can use a piece of black cloth. The color of the fabric will cover all the ink colors you’ve used to refill the cartridges.

Step #1:
First, remove the label from the cartridge. As you may already know, these cartridges have a label on the top that indicated the cartridge number and ink color.

Occasionally, people choose to remove it and get rid of it, but we recommend you only take it off and keep it in a safe place to put it back on the cartridge. In this way, you will keep the ink inside the cartridge from drying, and help the sponge in it to last longer.

Step #2:
Fill the three syringes with 3ml of ink each. We recommend you use this exact amount for this particular cartridge. Also, we suggest you get rid of all the air inside the syringe before refilling them, in order to avoid adding air to the cartridge. Please take a look at the following image.

Step #3:
Then, inject the amount of ink we mentioned earlier as slowly as possible. You must always do this slowly so the sponge inside the cartridge may absorb all the ink you’re adding to it. Please look at the picture ahead to learn the proper ink color combinantion on the HP 60 tricolor ink cartridge.

Step #4:
Once you’ve filled the cartridge with the amount of ink we mentioned in this tutorial, we recommend you place the label back on the cartridge exactly as it was in the beginning. This label, along with the ditches on the top of the cartridge, work together so it gets all the air it needs to make the ink drop.

If you need help, don’t hesitate in contacting us by leaving a comment in the section below this post. Now put the cartridge back in the printer and print several test sheets.

Notes:
Please let the cartridge rest for a while before placing it back in the printer. This will allow the cartridge to fill the sponge with ink. If you want, you may also shake the cartridge, with the print head facing downwards, to make the ink drop even more.

If the cartridge causes any problems after being installed in the printer, such as blinking, please follow these next steps:

1. Remove the ink cartridge and clean the contacts on it.
2. Clean the contacts on the printer, exactly where they come in touch with the ones on the cartridge.
3. If this doesn’t fix the problem, leave the cartridge outside the printer and turn it off for about 2 hours. You can turn the printer on and install the cartridge back in it after this time has passed.
4. If you still can’t reach a solution, please contact us. It’s very easy: you only have to post a comment in the section below this post.
